Brian Luftman was raised in Lexington, KY where he attended Dunbar High School. In 2001 he obtained a B.S. in Finance from Miami of Ohio’s Farmer School of Business. Immediately after college, Luftman moved to Chicago to pursue his dream of being a floor trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He ended up buying a seat on the exchange and trading commodity options for 10 years. During that time, he founded Luftrade, which specialized in cattle, corn, soybean and wheat options.
In 2011, Luftman founded American Farm Investors in his hometown of Lexington, KY. AFI is a full service farmland investment company in Lexington, KY, specializing in profitable farmland investments. AFI is one of the only firms in the country who syndicates farmland purchases and allows profitable agricultural assets to be held in an IRA or 401K account. Luftman currently lives in Lexington with his wife, Sara and their two young children.
